Since everything is on the internet, I don't need books...right?

NO, NO, NO, NO that is beyond wrong. I believe in books, and always have. Just because everything is online doesn’t mean that books are no longer necessary. Books are heavy and tiring to from place to place. On the other hand, some books are available on the internet or on some sort of portable device that will make them easier to carry. I usually read my books in their book form like in my hand, but sometimes I like to have my books with me all the time so I use my iPod a lot with my ibook library. That way whenever I need them, I have my books with me. I feel that there is no need to take away all the books just because everything is online. First, not everything is online because there are books that are so old that the only way you can get them is in book form not online. Some of the books online are stories in progress and that book that you have always wanted to read is not there. Second not everything online is true so if you are looking for information one should check a real encyclopedia or some sort of information book because those are professionally published. The online information maybe twisted. Take Wikipedia, anyone can edit it, some people edit it to fix the mistakes others edit it to satisfy their beliefs or even just so they can have people reach fake information. However there are sites with reliable information but there is no need to get rid of books, you will always need them.

On librarians

I think that librarians’ shelf books recognize books and even help people locate books. When someone wants help finding a specific book the librarian might help them find it and if there is a topic that someone is researching the librarian might help them find where to start looking. Maybe the person might not know how to use the library catalog or isn’t familiar with the set up of the library, the librarian might help them find what they are looking for. Librarians might also offer technical assistance to the people who need it. What I think that people might consider “cool” if librarians do it is listen to modernized music or music of today. Maybe have music playing in the background softly- it doesn’t have to be in the reading section but maybe in the lab. And in the future, I think that libraries will be bigger and more technological. There may be fewer books in their form and they probably will be in a software form like in a kindle or a nook. People may be able to check books out though the software. So if you were to check out a book they might loan it to you by sending it to you though the “waves” and when the loan time is done they will withdraw the book in its document form from you gadget. This will limit the amount of “lost” books from the library and also eliminating the fines as well. This library of the future will also help the environment because there will be less printed books and they will just be set as software. At least I hope libraries will become more like this- they will also save people lots of time so they don’t have to drive to a library location which might be miles away from where they live.

Answer to question 1

When I go to college, I hope to study medicine. I want to major in Biology but at the same time I want to study psychology. I want to study biology because it is a step towards achieving my goal of being a doctor. I want to be able to help people get better and maybe save some people’s lives. I think that it is a great gift-the gift of life and just the thought of some people not able to enjoy life is sickening because we go though our day without acknowledging that. If we think about that and everyone takes that seriously, then we will be able to avoid the possible dangers that can cause injury and even death. When we think about dangers we usually think about the big ones such as war, fire, mugging, etc. however there are small things that can cause big injuries and these we overlook and they are what put many people in the hospital. That is one of the reasons why I want to be a doctor. Another reason is that U want to give back to my community which provided me with more than one can ask for; many of the programs that I belong to are community programs- such as school clubs and they helped me by giving me opportunities for success so I want to make it a goal to give back.  The pre-colligate program has been helping me to achieving my goal by giving me classes that are of higher level in the summer and most of the curriculum is science based allowing me to expand my knowledge. I am truly great full to be admitted into such a program.
